Has my domestic kitchen obtained an Auckland Council food Safety Grade?
Yes, Scrumptious Home Baking has always obtained an Auckland Council Food Safety A Grade.
What do you charge to cut up items and for hiring your platters?
Some of my clients are more than happy to cut up and plate the items they order themselves. Other clients prefer me to do it for them. I charge $6 per item to be cut up.
All items normally come in paper trays, unless you would prefer the items to be plated onto platters. Some clients also like the items to come with labels stating what the item is and if it has any special dietary particulars. To hire my platters costs $25. If you wish me to collect the used platters from you after your event an additional delivery charge is added. Otherwise you are welcome to drop the platters back to me after your function.

Why do you mostly sell items as a whole item as opposed to separate pieces?
Some of my items are sold individually but mostly I bake items as a whole slice, cake or batch of muffins etc. The reason behind this is two fold, The first is that this is more cost effective for my clients . Secondly, this reduces the amount of waste produced and is therefore more sustainable. Most clients are very happy with a few leftovers, which never seem last very long!
What measures are you taking to reduce your impact on the environment?
All my goods are packaged in paper trays and placed inside a paper bag with the Scrumptious Home Baking sticker on the outside. All packaging is of a food grade quality. All paper trays and paper bags can be recycled once all food scraps has been removed.
Some of my corporate clients prefer me to use reusable containers, these are swapped out with new containers with fresh home baking in them. I take the other set of containers home to be refilled on the next delivery. Cakes can be placed in a cake container that you bring with you at pick up or I can lend you a cake carrier that you can later return. Alternatively, a paper cake box can be purchased which are recyclable after use. If you require items to be plated on platters, this can be arranged. The platters are covered with reusable plastic coverings. Some of the platters are too large for the reusable coverings. These are covered with cling wrap which is removed and placed in soft plastics recycling. The main aim is to use recyclable packaging that does not create harm to the environment. |
What recycling methods do you practice?
I recycle most items in our household.
All food scraps (except meat products) go into my home compost bin. This is used annually on my veggie garden. I grow my own herbs and vegetables. These items are spray free and are used in my catering. I make and grow my own ingredients for my homemade Zucchini Pickle.
All items that come packaged in soft plastics are saved and taken to a soft plastics recycling centre at my local Countdown .
All tins, glass and paper products are cleaned before going into the council recycling.
All bins are lined with plant based bio degradable bin liners.
